I let the clay speak to me with every piece. It tells me the shape I am going to create. The effect of color on the surface of the piece is created in a ‘pit-fire’ whereby the piece is wrapped with combustibles in aluminum foil and buried in a fiery pit where the combustibles create dancing color imagery on the surface of the piece as they fume with the heat of the fire.
